LADIES CAPTAIN’S ADDRESS

It is with great honour that I take over the captaincy of the Cavan Ladies Rugby Team and pay tribute to the hard work and dedication of last year’s captain, Kathleen Dawson. 2008 saw the establishment of the Ladies team and our involvement in a developmental league where we got our first taste of competitive rugby. This year we enter the AIL Division 2 North league and will have a regular calendar of matches where we intend to build on our knowledge and experience of the game. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new players to the team, and indeed, to County Cavan Rugby Football Club. It is also very encouraging for me to see so many of last year’s players back at training. I wish to acknowledge the continuous support we have received from the senior players, the Executive Committee, our sponsor Donal Keoghan, proprietor of The Imperial Bar, and our coaches. Finally, I’d like to wish the entire Ladies team a successful and enjoyable season 2008-’09 and hope it’s the year that the Cavan Ladies get closer to getting their hands on some silverware!
