Co Cavan RFC U14's game against Monaghan
28th October 2015

Cavan U 14's travelled to Monaghan for a floodlit fixture last Wednesday night.
The Cavan team captained by James Gannon started well with a try from straight running Patrick Breslin which Brandon Cooke converted as he did all evening, maintaining a 100% kicking record. Monaghan scored next and began a score for score game until the final whistle. John Conaty, Joe Kiernan, Connor Gaughan made hard vital yards throughout the game which allowed Sam Malone bag a hat trick of tries. Jack Heaslip's excellent pick and go technique combined well with Ben Reilly on his first game at wing forward, allowing James Gannon, Brandon Cooke, James Moore and Dillon Pointz to have the time and space they needed to release Niall Ward and Liam Bannon to score two great tries which of course Monaghan replied using their full back, who was a superb attacking force.  Cavan's line defence and tackling must continue to keep improving as they won't always be able to outscore opposition teams.  Joe Kiernan, Eoin Gilsenan and Kian McGurren scrummaged well all evening and it was appropriate for Captain on the day James Gannon to kick the ball into touch from a strong scrum in injury time to earn Cavan a well-deserved two point win. A special thanks to a sporting Monaghan for their hospitality and a very close game showing youth rugby is thriving in our local clubs with only a kick separating two exciting and committed teams.
Joe Kiernan, Eoin Gilsenan, Kian McGurren, Connor Gaughan, Patrick Breslin, Jack Heaslip, John Conaty, James Gannon, Brandon Cooke, Sam Malone, Niall Ward, Liam Bannon, Dylan Poyntz, James Moore.
