President's Message

CCRFC President 2015 - Malcolm Lowry

On behalf of Co Cavan RFC and Executive Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome all members, supporters, visiting teams and match officials to our club. Swellan Park is at it's best on match days be it Men's or Ladies teams, Minis or Youths.

We look forward to an exciting and challenging season ahead. Our Mens team have the potential and ambition to improve this season. There is a good blend of experience and talent together with a good number of players making the transition from the youth ranks. We wish their captain, Gary Gillespie and their new coach, David McGregor every success in the games ahead.  Our Ladies team aim to continue their great advances over the past number of seasons. Their determination and dedication is an example to all. In Rosey Morgan they have an inspirational captain together with their head coach George Crowe and James Loughnane

To the Youth teams, under youth convenor Niall Patterson, embarking in their respective cup competitions I wish them all the best. There is a lot to play for here. Our Under 18, 16 & 14 teams are developing into competitive teams benefitting from the foundations laid at mini level.  Mini Rugby is an extremely important and vibrant part of our club. I wish Ian Elliott (Mini Convenor), his coaches and the players all the best in their training and match days. Thanks must go to the army of volunteers at this and all levels of the club - coaches, parents, friends, those who help in the kitchen, help in the shop, send out team texts or sweep the driveway, all play a part in helping to make our club a community.

I hope that the players at all levels enjoy the club and playing rugby – train hard, give it your best effort in every match, make new friends, but most of all enjoy the season ahead.

I wish the choir every success too. The have been great ambassadors of the club and have achieved plenty in their short time. We welcome all sporting groups and teams to use our facilities. Currently the Cavan Comets Baseball team and Breffni Wheelers Cycling club train at the club and use the facilities for sport and socialising.

Thanks must go to our sponsors - CG are committed to be our main sponsor for another 2 years. Our pitch sign sponsors and Mini, Youth and Ladies team sponsors are much appreciated too.

We are a club still in relative infancy but hopefully with a big future. I am truly honoured to have been elected the 21st President of Co. Cavan RFC for the 2015/16 season and am very aware of the history and traditions of the club, and of the endeavours of those who have served before me at this and all levels of the club.
